Vaikom: A young couple was found dead in their residence in Koodupadam in Kottayam’s Kulasekaramangalam on Wednesday. Shyam Prakash (24) and his wife Arunima (19) are the deceased.

Shyam’s mother Laly was not there in the house as she had gone for MGNREGA work. The incident came to light when Shyam’s brother Sharath , a student, returned home after classes. Though he alerted neighbours and broke the room open to rescue them, they were dead by then.

The couple were married for just six months. Two weeks before Shyam was booked in a case for damaging his uncle’s car. Shyam reportedly damaged the car as his uncle did not allow him to use it.
