Kerala twin sisters qualify for National Children’s Science Congress

Niranjana Pillai and Neeraja Pillai

Puthoor: Making Keralites proud, twin sisters Niranjana Pillai and Neeraja Pillai from Poreekkal in Kollam have made it to the National Children’s Science Congress to be held in Gujarat. The duo studies in Class 8 in Puthoor Government Higher Secondary School.

Both had represented Kollam district in State Children’s Science Congress in junior category. The topic of their project was related to the progress in agriculture amid Covid-19 pandemic.

The project explored themes like growth of agriculture and high-tech farming amid the pandemic period and role of agriculture in preventing lifestyle diseases. Notably, this was the only project in junior category which got selection from the district. Also, only six projects from Kerala have been selected in the same category for the national level event.

Both have an interesting track record in co-curricular activities. This includes arts events, science exhibitions and Sanskrit drama. They have made accolades in state level yoga competition too.

Niranjana and Neeraja are daughters of P Thara, a teacher at Mukood Government UP school, and M Babukuttan Pillai, an employee of Canara Bank.
