Kollam records 81 percent of Covid cases through contact
Kollam: The coronavirus situation in the district is worrying. 81 percent of the Covid patients contracted the virus through contact. Out of the 75 Covid cases confirmed on Sunday, 68 were through contact.
A policeman on duty at the Aryankavu check post, a few accused arrested from Punaloor and Kottarakkara police stations have tested Covid positive. Also an accused in a ganja case nabbed by Excise from Mevaram, two lawyers and a doctor at a private hospital in Anchal tested positive for the virus.
The contact cases are mainly reported from the coastal regions of the district. 15 out of the 240 fishermen from Tamil Nadu who arrived at the coastal areas here tested Covid positive. As they had violated quarantine, the area has come under high risk.
The lack of coordination between the health department and district administration is creating crisis in the district. The health department didn’t release the details of the lawyers and doctor who tested positive for Covid on Sunday. The issues between employees at the DMO office is cited as the reason for this.
Allegations are being raised that the authorities conceal details of Covid patients.
