Kollam: Police have increased vehicle inspections to put a tab on the rising number of drunk driving incidents in the state. In the past few days, 598 cases have been registered following various inspections in the Kollam district. Kollam City police registered 296, and rural police recorded 302 cases.

Meanwhile, the officials have begun measures to revoke the driving licence of 338 people.

As many as 239 licences under the City police and 99 under the Rural police have been handed over to the Motor Vehicle Department for cancellation. Steps have also been taken to confiscate the licences of 239 people.

With vehicle inspections becoming hi-tech, traffic rule violations, including overspeeding, will be recorded on the MVD website.
