Kollam man creates stir before arrest; brandishes machete, threaten to kill mother

Kollam: After hours of uncertainty, a Kollam native, who created a stir using a machete and threatened to kill his mother inside their house, was apprehended by police officials with the help of the locals.

Sajeevan, hailing from Chithara, placed police and locals in danger for almost 54 hours after brandishing a machete and refusing to let police from entering the house to arrest him. A local was also hacked while trying to stop Sajeevan.

He also set loose his rottweiler dog at the police and prevented them from entering the house for the last two days. With the help of the fire force, the police finally trapped the dog and succeeded in breaking into the house.

However, Sajeevan stood guard inside a room and brandished a machete at the police and locals. He also threatened to kill his mother and commit suicide if the police tried to arrest him. Sajeevan was finally subdued by Kollam SPCI senior inspector Riju. The officer caught Sajeevan off guard and grabbed him by the back after entering the house wearing Mufti. Along with Sajeevan, his mother was also arrested and taken into police custody.

The incident spiralled out of control after police officers approached the house on Thursday night to arrest him based on a complaint filed by his neighbour. According to the complaint, Sajeeven threatened his neighbour with the machete and claimed his neighbour's property as his own.
