Puthoor(Kollam): A 52-year-old woman, who was riding pillion with her son, succumbed to injuries after falling off from the bike when she tried to open her umbrella. She sustained severe head injuries and died later.
Though her son Vishnu pleaded for help on the road, none came forward to stop their vehicles. However, after some time, she was rushed to Ezhukone ESI hospital in a car but succumbed to injuries. The tragic plight happened to Geethakumari Amma in Korayikode.
The accident happened near Eradanmukk around at 8 AM. Geethakumari was a labourer at Parathumpara cashew factory and was going for work. Due to rain, she opened her umbrella and it swayed when a vehicle coming in the opposite direction passed by. She lost her balance and fell on the road injuring her head.
Geethakumari is survived by her husband Shashidharan Pillai, son Vishnu and daughter-in-law Arya. Meanwhile, Ezhukone police has initiated procedures pertaining to the accident death.
