Kollam: The body of a youth killed in a road accident was abandoned by the driver who caused the accident and remained on the roadside for seven hours. Vettikkavala native Ratheesh was mowed down by a lorry and the driver shifted the body to the roadside and fled the place. However, the act was caught on camera.
Ratheesh, a workshop staffer, was unloading the lorry from Tamil Nadu on Friday night. When the driver moved the vehicle, Ratheesh was trapped under the rear tyres. The driver, who noticed the accident, stopped the vehicle and moved Ratheesh to the side of the road and fled the place. Ratheesh was found by the shop owner who arrived in the morning at 7. The accident happened at 11.30 pm.
Driver Krishnakumar was arrested on Saturday noon. He is currently charged with involuntary manslaughter. Police said more charges may be slapped after quizzing him
