Kulathupuzha: Police have arrested a man for attempting to abduct a two-and-a-half-year-old boy who was playing in front of his house at Chozhiyakode in Kollam. The suspect was caught by locals and handed over to the police on Wednesday evening when he tried to kidnap the son of Ratheesh, a native of Moonumukku.

The suspect allegedly grabbed the child and ran away, but Ratheesh rushed to the scene and the commotion attracted a few locals who apprehended the accused. They stated that the suspect had been wandering in the locality since morning on the same day.

The suspect is reportedly speaking inconsistently in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada languages. Following a medical examination, he was admitted to the mental healthcare center in Kulathupuzha.
