Ceremonial Kodiyettam for Thrissur Pooram held at Thiruvambady, Paramekkavu temples

Thrissur: Thiruvambady and Paramekkavu temples, two participants of the Thrissur Pooram held on the premise of the Vadakkumnatha temple, held 'Kodiyettam' (flag hoisting) to mark the beginning of the week-long Pooram celebrations, popularly known as the Thrissur Pooram.

Thiruvambady Sri Krishna Temple hoisted the flag at 11.30 am and Paramekkavu Bhagavathi Temple at 11.50 am. Fireworks and chenda melam were performed.

Vilambaram, Kodiyettam, Main Pooram, Madathil Varavu, Ilanjithara Melam, Kootti Ezhunilappu, Kudamatam and fireworks are the major events of the Pooram.

The temples, which contest each other, are preparing to make their sides more exclusive and ecstatic. On April 30, around 10 lakh people will assemble in Thrissur town to participate in the event, making it one of the biggest gatherings in Asia.
