Kodiyeri to go for treatment: MV Govindan likely to coordinate party activities
Thiruvananthapuram: CPM leadership has decided that there is no need for CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan to stay away from party after taking leave. At the same time, he will be allowed to take rest as he needs medical treatment.
In the absence of Kodiyeri, any one of the secretariat members will be appointed to coordinate the daily activities of the party. As per reports, MV Govindan, who functions at party centre, is likely to be appointed as the coordinator to undertake the functions of the party secretary.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and minister AK Balan held talks with Kodiyeri here at AKG centre on Wednesday. According to sources, available politburo meeting held in New Delhi on Thursday also discussed on Kodiyer’s health condition. Following the discussion, Politburo observed that there is no need for electing an interim secretary and recommended that two or three secretariat members can discharge duties of the secretary.
The leadership decided that arrangements will be made in the party by allowing Kodiyeri to have proper medical care.
However, CPM denied the rumours saying Kodiyeri has filed leave application to the party and the party has initiated action to appoint an interim secretary.
