Kodiyeri strives to seat Mohammed Riyas as the next chief minister: K Muraleedharan

Kozhikode: Vadakara MP K Muraleedharan on Wednesday attacked CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan over the latter's statement on the 'lack of presence of leaders from minority communities' in the Congress party. Kodiyeri aims to seat Mohammed Riyas as the next chief minister by making such statements, Muraleedharan said here.

Kodiyeri is talking for Pinarayi Vijayan, similar to how Amit Shah does for Narendra Modi. Pinarayi wants to control everything even if he is made to resign. We don't personally attack Riyas. If Kodiyeri wants to make Riyas the next CM, let it be. But why does he has to make communal statements to achieve it?," he asked.

If Kodiyeri thinks Congress is not secular, he should openly say that CPM will not form an alliance with us in states like Tamil Nadu. Congress never compromised with BJP. I took the risk of contesting from Nemom to close their account in the Assembly.

There were community considerations while choosing K Sudhakaran for the post of KPCC president. That is why I stayed away from the post. This has been the norm of Congress all these years. Merit was also a matter while choosing the Leader of Opposition and KPCC chief, Muraleedharan said.

Kodiyeri had accused that the 'lack of leaders from minority communities' at the helm of Congress in the state is the 'agenda of Rahul Gandhi' who said 'India is a country of Hindus'.
