Kodiyeri Balakrishnan meets Orthodox leaders ahead of Konni By-Election
Konni: CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan met representatives of Orthodox church in an effort to make peace. The orthodox church had expressed their dissatisfaction with the state government openly in connection with the Malankara church row. The meeting took place in the context of the upcoming by- election in Konni.
Kodiyeri visited the Mar Kuriakose ashram in Mylapra on Thursday evening. The meeting went on for 30 minutes and he left only after having dinner with the priests.
After the meeting, Kodiyeri said the government’s stance on the matter is to give the Orthodox church the needed justice. The priests claimed that the church doesn’t have any problems with the state government and that it doesn’t support a single political party for the by- election.
Kodiyeri Balakrishnan had earlier met the supreme head of the Orthodox church Baselios Mar Thoma Paulose II.
