Kodiyeri likely to step down as CPM state secretary due to ill-health

New Delhi: Senior leader Kodiyeri Balakrishnan is likely to step down from his role as CPM state secretary due to health issues. It is learnt that the veteran CPM leader had informed the party leadership about his decision.

The Politburo will hold an emergency meeting on Sunday at Thiruvananthapuram to discuss the matter. Senior party leaders Sitaram Yechury and Prakash Karat will attend the meeting.

Earlier, A Vijayaraghavan, a Politburo member, briefly held the charge of the party state secretary after Kodiyeri was granted leave for treatment back in 2020.
