Kochi waterlogging: CM calls for high-level meet on Oct 25
Thiruvananthapuram: The government has intervened for a solution to Kochi’s waterlogging issue. The Chief Minister has called for a meeting of senior officials, including Mayor and corporation secretary, in Thiruvananthapuram on October 25 to discuss the matter. Ernakulam district collector S Suhas will also take part in the meeting.
Meanwhile, the Kerala High Court appreciated the interventions made by the Chief Minister in the waterlogging issue in Kochi. It was upon the Chief Minister’s instruction the collector S Suhas took necessary action. This prompted severe criticism from the High Court against the city’s corporation.
The court asked if the CM had not intervened what would be the city’s condition. Apart from the CM, the High Court also appreciated all those who were involved in the collector’s breakthrough programme implemented to find a quick solution to the issue. The court has also recommended the formation of a task force under the leadership of the collector to prevent waterlogging.
