Kochi: Kochi experience its first showers on Wednesday this summer, a day after residents felt relieved over the fact that the fire at Brahmapuram dump yard was completely doused.

Experts had urged caution on the first rains after the Brahmapuram fire, as prolonged smoke and emissions can contaminate showers. Many had flagged the chance of acid rains too.

According to some locals, the water from the first showers after the Brahmapuram fire appeared more frothy.

Meanwhile parts of southern districts Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, and Ernakulam. In some parts, the rains were accompanied by lightning.

IMD has forecasted isolated rains in Alappuzha, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, and Wayanad for the night.
