Kochi: Police have been accused of trying to save Kadavanthra inspector Manuraj who was allegedly involved in a hit and run case last week. It is alleged that the CI, who was travelling with his friend in the night, chose to drive ahead without stopping after his car had hit a bike rider on the Harbour Bridge. The police is said to have finally registered an FIR in the case after a lot of hesitation, however ‘without’ mentioning the name of the cop.

Vimal, a resident of Fort Kochi who was injured in the accident, was taken to the hospital by the locals. It is said that a group of people followed the car, which was finally found parked at an isolated place 2 kms away from the accident spot.

Locals alleged that the CI who was found in an inebriated condition inside the car misbehaved with them.

The police is widely criticised for initially trying to compromise the case without registering an FIR.
