Kochi Metro turns 2 today with huge increase in number of passengers
Kochi: The pride project of the state Kochi Metro is turning two on Monday. Kochi Metro is celebrating its second birthday with 2.58 crore passengers. This includes all passengers who travelled in Metro since its inauguration. Also Rs 150.24 crore was earned during this period.
The number of passengers who used the smart card Kochi One has risen to 45,000. This was only 18,000 last year. During the first year, most of the people were rushing to see the Metro. But upto 40,000 – 45,000 passengers travel in Metro every day.
Kochi Metro started service on June 17, 2017 from Aluva to Palarivattam. Later, this was extended to Maharajas College ground. Now, Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) is planning to extend the service to Thaikkudam. This will be inaugurated in August.
