Ramya, Sajeevan
Cherayi: A man confessed to murdering his wife, following the latter’s disappearance for nearly one and a half years. The brutal crime surfaced when police interrogated the husband in detail after finding discrepancies in his statements. The accused himself had lodged a missing complaint after killing his wife and burying the mortal remains on the courtyard of his rented house.
Kochi-Edavanakkad native Sajeevan (45) has allegedly killed his wife Ramya (35). Based on Sajeevan’s statements, a team of Forensic officials visited the house and recovered the mortal remains. The retrieved bones and other remains will be sent for autopsy, said police.
Police informed that Sajeevan had strangulated his wife to death after he suspected her of cheating on him. The incident happened on October 16, 2021 during the daytime when the couple’s children were not at home. Later, he kept the body in his room and buried it on the courtyard during night. He told his children and others that Ramya has gone to Bengaluru to pursue a beautician course. He attempted to mislead them by informing that she left to a Gulf country for work and from there eloped with someone else.
However, Ramya’s parents, who were suspicious, lodged a missing complaint at the police station. Soon after this, Sajeevan also filed a complaint. Sajeevan was interrogated and arrested following this.
