Kakkanad: Kakkanad Info park is experiencing a severe water crisis. The condition is so bad that it has affected the functioning of the park. The water scarcity was caused due to the recent order that permits only water from state water authority to be distributed through tanks. Many companies have shut their offices as they do not have enough water even for primary needs. The employees have been instructed to work from home. In connection with ‘Operation pure water’, the collector had released an order that banned taking water from wells and rock mines. This stopped the arrival of tanker trucks that distributed water to Info park.
The ban was initially thought to be meant only for drinking water. It was only later that clarification was given that the ban was not just limited to drinking water but was applicable for all purposes as well. This was mentioned in the Assembly session that was held the other day.
The water scarcity has affected the chilling units in the IT parks also. Employees revealed that the scarcity has been intense for the past four days, causing many companies to shift their offices. Unless a solution is found, this will definitely impact the IT sector in the state.
