Tata's BigBasket acquires Kochi based startup 'Agrima Infotech'


Agrima Infotech was co-founded by Anoop Balakrishnan, Arun Ravi and Nikhil Dharman. It was initiated under the Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM). It has also acquired funding from Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC).

Kochi: Agrima Infotech, a deep-tech company headquartered in Kochi was acquired by BigBasket under the ownership of Tata Group. Agrima Infotech’s customer vision technology platform, Psyight, will be used at the self-checkout counters of BigBasket’s retail stores. This platform helps in identifying all Indian fruits and vegetables properly using just pictures, without using barcodes.

Agrima Infotech was co-founded by Anoop Balakrishnan, Arun Ravi and Nikhil Dharman. It was initiated under the Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM). It has also acquired funding from Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC).

Agrima Infotech CEO and co-founder Anoop Balakrishnan said that by joining hands with BigBasket, the shopping experience in the country will see a new high.

BigBasket CEO Hari Menon, a Malayali, said that the company will maintain close ties with Agrima Infotech to bring in a touch of the latest technology in the business.

KSUM CEO John M Thomas said that this acquisition is a great landmark as far as Kerala startups are concerned.
