Kochi: The business terminal of Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL), which is being constructed for private jets and chartered flights, will be commissioned in the second week of December.
As the terminal turns operational, the number of private jets coming to Kochi will go up. So far, almost 95 per cent of its construction activities have been completed.
The terminal is being built over an area of 3,150 sq.m. at a cost of Rs 30 crore. The old domestic terminal 'T2' is being partially converted into a business jet terminal.
The new terminal will have the capacity to occupy 20 passengers per hour. It will also include car porches, luxury lobby, check-in counters, customs and security frisking counters among others.
Currently, the jet planes arriving in Kochi are landing at the domestic and international terminals. With the business jet terminal, VVIPs can be offered better facilities and increased security.
