KM Shaji MLA's house is worth Rs 1.6 crores; Kozhikode corporation files report
Kozhikode: Kozhikode corporation estimated that KM Shaji MLA’s house is worth around Rs 1.6 crores.
It was also found that the third floor of the house and certain parts of the ground floor were constricted without authorization. Kozhikode corporation has handed over the details of the house to the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
The ED is looking into the assets of the MLA in connection with the allegation that he took a bribe of Rs 25 lakhs in order to grant Plus Two classes for a school in Kannur. As part of this, ED had sought the details of his properties in Kozhikode and Kannur.
Chirakkal panchayat had handed over the details of Shaji's house in Kannur to ED. The report stated that the house was worth Rs 28 lakhs.
As per Kozhikode corporation's reports the value of furniture, marble and tile at Shaji's house is yet to be evaluated. The report stated that this has to be handed over to the Public Works Department (PWD).
KM Shaji’s house was measured by corporation officials the other day. He took permission from the corporation to build a 3,200 square feet house. However, the house stood at 5,500 square feet in measurement.
Kannur block panchayat president Padmanabhan had filed a complaint to the vigilance department that KM Shaji took a bribe of Rs 25 lakhs in order to approve Plus Two classes for a school in Azhikode constituency. The Enforcement Directorate started investigating the source of his income in connection with the case.
