Kozhikode: K M Shaji MLA responded to the criticism raised by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. He wanted to know whether asking questions on the donations made to Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund is wrong as it is the money given to the state government. The MLA was speaking to the media at a press conference in Kozhikode.
He said that the government had handed over Rs 25 lakhs from the CM's Relief Fund to an MLA of the left front. Shaji is not ready to reveal the identity of the MLA and he does not hold press conference to insult others unlike the Chief Minister.
The MLA also said that it is understandable if the money is given to manage the hospital expenses of public servants. But in the case of the MLA, the money was provided to pay off his bank debts.
Public servants may have financial difficulties towards the end of their careers but it is not respectable to help one’s party members out of common man’s money.
KM Shaji also alleged that Rs 1000 crores allotted for the construction of Grameeen roads were taken out of the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund. Out of this, only seven or eight percent of the total amount was given to the opposition MLAs. He also said that Kerala was not created when Pinarayi Vijayan threw his axe.
