KM Shaji MLA appears before Vigilance for interrogation


Kozhikode: Muslim League leader and MLA KM Shaji on Friday appeared before the Vigilance for interrogation over the charges of unlawful accumulation of wealth. Shaji arrived at the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau office in Thondayad here at around 10 am.

The Vigilance probe team on Thursday had submitted in court, the final report relating to the raid at the residences of Shaji the other day. The report stated that Rs 47,35,500 was seized from Shaji. Following this, Shaji was summoned to the Vigilance office.

The 500 grams of gold and foreign currency seized from Shaji’s house were returned to him finding no discrepancy over it.

Shaji’s residences in Maloorkkunnu in Kozhikode and Azhikode in Kannur were raided after a case was registered at the Vigilance court for the unlawful accumulation of Rs 1.47 crore.

However, Shaji claimed that he possesses the documents of the seized money. His financial transactions from 2011 to 2020 are being inspected by the Vigilance.
