KK Shailaja terms Mullappally Ramachandran's misogynistic statement 'shameful'
Thiruvananthapuram: Health minister KK Shailaja stated that it is dangerous to keep misogynistic ideas in one’s mind. She said that rape is the worst and cruelest of crimes in human society and that it is not right of Mullappally Ramachandran to give out misogynistic statements every now and then. She was responding to the misogynistic statements made by Mullappally Ramachandran on Sunday.
Earlier the day, Mullappally had said that proud women should commit suicide if they have been raped.
Rape is the cruelest and worst crime in a society. Its cruel to touch a girl or woman’s body without her permission. It shameful for the entire society that he said that rape victims should commit suicide, Shailaja said.
She said that it is not the woman’s mistake that she falls prey to such a crime. This kind of statements from political leaders, who should be acting to prevent such crimes, is dangerous, KK Shailaja said.
It is good that Mullappally expressed his apology. It is not right to repeat such misogynistic statements. Political parties should attempt to prevent such tendencies and protect the victims, she added.
