Khader commission report: Opposition gives notice of adjournment in assembly
Thrivuananthapuram: Expressing protest against the implementation of Khader Commission report on unification of school education, the Congress-led UDF moved a notice of adjournment in the assembly on Wednesday. MLA KN Khader moved the notice.
The opposition demanded that government should not bring school education under Directorate of General Education before holding detailed discussions. Responding to this education minister C Raveendranath stated that the cabinet has already approved the Khader commission report.
Khader Commission report recommended for the unification of school education by bringing class 1 to plus two under single directorate. The report detailed the administration of school education system with unification. A detailed report on the academic matters is yet to be released.
Though the government summoned a meeting with teaching and non-teaching staff associations, majority of the representatives of the associations did not support the report.
Education minister explained that school managements unanimously supported the decision to implement the unification of school education. But opposition alleged that it will affect the standard of school education in Kerala.
Hence, the opposition demanded that the recommendations in the Khader commission report should not be implemented without holding discussions to reach an agreement. However, the minister explained that among the 14 recommendations only one was selected for implementation.
He asserted that bringing school education under a single directorate will not affect the system.
