Kozhikode: BPL families residing in 13 constituencies of Kozhikode district will receive internet connection as part of the phase 1 roll out of the KFON project. The initiative is part of the Kerala government’s attempt to ensure internet connectivity for all. A total of 1,479 government offices across Kozhikode have already received KFON services.
Internet service will be installed in 1,300 households across the 13 constituencies. The paperworks regarding the same are almost complete.
Kerala Vision has undertaken the contract for providing KFON services across the state. The cables for the same have been laid state-wide, except on a stretch of 210 kilometers, where either national highway renovation works are taking place or railway crossings are situated.
By now, points of presence, facilitating distribution of KFON service, have been installed in 26 KSEB substations in the district. Such pointes are equipped with cables, tutor switch, round-the-clock power supply, UPS batteries, inverter, and air conditioners. The main ‘point of presence’ for KFON service in the district is set up at Chevayur substation.
