Kottayam: The investigation team that probed the murder of Kevin P. Joseph is planning to approach the High Court to cancel the bail granted to the police officers of Gandhinagar police station. They were arrested for helping the accused in the case.
The investigation team is moving against ASI Biju and driver Ajayakumar who were found to have caused lapses in the case. Ettumanoor court granted bail to them the other day.
There were allegations that the policemen were granted bail in order to sabotage the case. in this context, the investigation team decided to approach the High Court requesting to cancel their plea.
Kottayam SP Harisankar had clarified the other day that stringent action will be taken against those officers who caused lapses in the case.
It has been decided to ask for an explanation from the officers. It is learnt that a show cause notice will be issued to the policemen on Tuesday.
Investigation officer Vijay Sakhare also had submitted a report showing that the police officers have received bribe from the main accused Shanu in connection with the case.
If the police officers’ response to the show cause notice is not satisfactory, stringent action, including dismissal, will be taken, it is learnt.
