Munnar: A voice clip has come out as strong evidence of the link between government officials and the real estate mafia. The voice clip which was a telephone conversation confirmed that a resort employee contacted Tehsildar after government officials stopped illegal construction work in Devikulam.
In the phone conversation, Tehsildar Radhakrishnan was trying to convince the resort employee that he was not behind the action to halt the construction works. He further stated that he was forced to send officials to stop construction works as directed by the sub-collector.
The illegal construction took place near the Devikulam taluk office. The phone recording is strong evidence to prove the fact that there are shady ties between the officers and the land mafia in Munnar.
Further, the recording also contains the resort worker threatening Tehsildar that he would inform higher officials if he could not stop the officials.
Illegal construction is taking place in the area where three people died in landslides in 2008 and 2018. Earlier, the state government has issued an order by banning all construction works on the site.
