Kochi: Kerala high court on Wednesday directed that spot booking should be allowed if slots are available after the virtual queue booking for Sabarimala darshan. Currently, spot bookings are allowed for only 10,000 people.

The Devaswom Bench comprising Justice Ajit Kumar and Justice Anil K said that such a limit should not be fixed for booking. Currently, 60,000 people are allowed for darshan at Sabarimala per day.

However, only about 45,000 people are currently visiting the hill shrine due to the Covid crisis. Due to this, the court directed that spot booking should be entertained since there are a lot of slots remaining.

Meanwhile, a petition against the use of halal jaggery in Sabarimala will be considered only after the Christmas holidays.
