Thiruvananthapuram: Minister of Public Works Department PA Mohammed Riyas on Saturday said that the LDF government has positively accepted the actor Jayasurya's criticism on the poor condition of roads in Kerala. He promised that the government will find a solution to avoid interruption of road works during the rainy season.
“Everyone has the right to express their opinion. Incessant rains have been interrupting the work of the Public Works Department. The government is trying to find solutions to this problem,” the minister reiterated.
Meantime, the minister pointed out that Jayasurya favoured the department's activities in his speech.
“There is only 10,000 km of road in Cherrapunji and there are over 3.5 lakh km of roads in Kerala. It is also worthwhile to remember that the vast majority of roads in the state have not been significantly damaged in these adverse weather conditions,” he added.
Earlier, the actor had criticized the terrible condition of the roads in Kerala at a programme organised by the Public Works Department in Thiruvananthapuram. Jayasurya's criticism was that if the road could not be repaired during the monsoon season, then there would be no road left in Cherrapunji.
