Murder of nurse in Pathanamthitta: Victim's parents allege involvement of more people in the case

Pathanamthitta: More people were involved in the rape and murder of the nurse in Kottangal here, parents of the victim have complained. The police have arrested one person in relation to the crime which occurred in 2019. However, he cannot commit the crime alone, the parents strongly believe.

Meanwhile, the crime branch team brought Naseer, the accused in the case, to the crime scene to collect evidence. The accused described to the police how he managed to hang the woman after sexually assaulting her, the police said.

The woman was found hanging on December 15, 2019, at her boyfriend's house where she was living for the past six months. Initially, the police suspected the role of her lover in the crime. Two years after the incident, police arrested Naseer alias Neymon after a DNA test produced a positive result.

The woman had sustained 53 wounds all over her body. Following a complaint lodged by her boyfriend, K G Simon, the district police chief, handed over the case to the Crime Branch in 2020. The new investigation team found more scientific evidence of the brutal sexual assault. The statements of the doctor who performed the post-mortem were also decisive.

Police have repeatedly questioned three suspects who were present near the house on the day of the incident. Naseer, who was also on the list, was arrested after his blood sample matched with the one that was taken from the nurse's fingernails. Naseer, who arrived at the house learning that the victim's boyfriend and his father left the house in the morning, assaulted and hanged her, police said.
