Kochi: It has come to light that 104 buses remain unused in KSRTC depots due to the unavailability of spare parts and lack of maintenance. Of these, 87 buses are high-end Scania and Volvo buses which are bought for a significant amount of money.

The information regarding the condition of the KSRTC buses was revealed after an RTI was filed by MK Haridas, president of the Proper Channel in Ernakulam. The document reveals that the KSRTC has 290 low floor buses made in India, 17 Scania and 202 Volvo buses in their inventory.

Apart from this, 10 electric buses were rented by KSRTC for services in Thiruvananthapuram city and Ernakulam. However, these are not currently conducting service following the Covid crisis.
