Thiruvananthapuram: During the assembly session, CPM leader KK Shailaja on Monday called attention to the demand of the opposition regarding Plus One admission. Shailaja demanded that the number of Plus One seats should be calculated on district level instead of state level.
Earlier, the Opposition had moved an adjournment motion notice regarding the allotment of more seats for Plus One admission. The notice issued by Shafi Parambil demanded that the issue facing the students be discussed. However, Education Minister V Sivankutty replied to the House that additional batches could not be allowed.
Shailaja demanded that the inadequacy of seats should be rectified considering it as a state level unit but on a district-sub district basis. She also stood by the opinion of the opposition that the situation is very serious and adequate decisions have to be taken.
In addition to this, KK Shailaja also requested V Sivankutty to take necessary steps to stop the private institutions from collecting huge fees from the students.
