Thiruvananthapuram: The final rank list of Kerala Administrative Service (KAS) conducted by the Public Service Commission (PSC) was announced on Friday. Malini S, first rank holder in KAS Stream 1, is more than happy becoming the topper. Just a month ago, she managed to crack the UPSC civil service exam and secured the 135th rank.
Malini, 29, hailing from Mavelikkara in Alappuzha, dreamt about doing something unique ever since she passed her Class 10 examination. However, her passion was in literature and was least bothered about her peers opting for science-related topics. After completing her education in the field of literature, she later pursued her career as a teacher, until the dream of civil service landed her in a coaching centre in Thiruvananthapuram.
She decided to write the KAS exam while preparing for civil service examination. However, she had to follow history and economics, which is part of the KAS syllabus. “I just had to put a little bit of effort into the KAS exam since I was already pursuing the curriculum for civil service. Even the main exam for KAS was held a few months before the mains of Civil Service. It helped a lot in preparing for it,” she told mathrubhumi.com.
Her father works as a lawyer, mother a teacher and sister is currently pursuing PhD.
Her dream is to opt for the Indian Foreign Service if everything goes as planned.
