Thalassery: Violating prohibitory orders, Sangh Parivar activists staged a massive protest in Thalassery town on Friday. Over 300 activists participated in the protest against SDPI which was held soon after the collector imposed prohibitory orders under section 144. Police stopped a rally led by the protestors at the Vadikal junction.

Though the protestors raised slogans against the SDPI, it was soon withdrawn after the RSS leadership intervened and demanded that there should be no provocative slogans. The leadership also informed that they will cooperate with the police.

Earlier, Sangh Parivar activists raised provocative slogans at a rally held on December 1 to commemorate the death anniversary of Yuva Morcha leader KT Jayakrishnan, who was hacked to death in a classroom at Mokeri UP school in Kannur.

The move from the Sangh Parivar irked groups including the SDPI and the Muslim League. It was in the wake of this incident that the authorities decided to impose prohibitory orders to curb any violence.
