Cherthala: Police unravelled the mystery behind the death of Harikrishna, a native of Kadakkarappally in Alappuzha, and confirmed that it was a murder. Ratheesh, husband of Harikrishna's sister confessed that he killed her over an argument about her relationship with a man. Ratheesh had beaten her up during the argument and strangled her to death.
Ratheesh and Harikrishna were in a relationship. In the meantime, she developed an affair with another man and both decided to marry. This provoked Ratheesh and the arguments over this led to her murder.
Harikrishna, daughter of Ullas and Suvarna, was working as a nurse at Vandanam Medical College. Her sister Neethu works in a private hospital in Kochi.
When the incident took place Neethu had night duty and Ratheesh brought Harikrishna to his house, while she was coming after the duty to look after the children. It was then she was murdered.
Harikrishna’s parents asked Ratheesh about her after she did not turn up till morning. Ratheesh informed her parents that Harikrishna had already been informed of over-time duty and would not return home.
On suspicion, her parents approached the police and ended up finding her body from Ratheesh’s house. Ratheesh was nabbed by police while absconding.
Police said, Ratheesh used to drop her back after duty and both the houses are in one-kilometre distance.
