Thiruvananthapuram: The state government has taken the decision to take stern action against the teachers who fail to take the covid vaccine. The department of education has requested teachers who have not been vaccinated to mandatory appear before a medical board. However, people with any kind of health problem will be excluded from this.

It is learned that around 5000 teachers are yet to be vaccinated in the state despite school reopening. The order from the government instructed teachers to take vaccine before the school reopened, but some were unwilling to do so. It was reported that this reluctance was sighted on the basis of some health issues and certain religious beliefs.

With this, the government decided that those who could not get the vaccine due to health problems should scientifically provide evidence to their claim. A medical board will be formed to look into such cases.

Minister V Sivankutty said that the teachers and non-teaching staff who failed to receive vaccines will not be encouraged to attend school.
