Ponnani: BJP state president K Surendran on Friday visited the house of 'Metroman' E Sreedharan a day after the former director of DMRC announced his withdrawal from active politics.
Surendran discussed the reasons that led to the announcement of Sreedharan. He told the media that Sreedharan will stay with the BJP for the rest of his career and continue to have a key presence inside the party. Sreedharan responded that it was only a friendly visit.
Even though he cannot take part in the party events concerning his age, he will continue to be a member of the party's national executive committee, Surendran said. He also added that Sreedharan's services would be fully available to the party.
“His guidance is valuable. The party will take steps to rectify the shortcomings pointed out by him and will reach out to the people,” Surendran said.
Sreedharan was the BJP candidate in the Palakkad constituency in the recent state Assembly elections. He even declared his willingness to become the chief minister of Kerala. However, he lost the election and BJP failed to retain the lone seat in the Assembly.
