Tirur: A Malayali woman got married to a groom from Bengal. The wedding was held in the authentic Bengal style on Wednesday night at Qatar Auditorium in Tirur. The bride, Gayathri Janardhanan is the daughter of Perambra native Janardhanan and P Raji. Janardhanan is the Assistant Private Secretary of Minister V Abdurahiman. The groom, Sudipte Dey and his family arrived from Bengal for the wedding.
The couple met while working. Sudipte Dey is the son of Bil Kaash Kumar Dey and Deepali Dey. He works at Sputnik Vaccine Company in Bengaluru. Gayathri is a veterinary doctor. Both of them studied in the UK.

The wedding started with pujas. The groom was seated separately in a place away from the bride. He then changed into his wedding attire and was taken to the wedding venue. The bride was seated in a palanquin by her relatives and brought to the stage. Her face was covered using betel leaves. The bride and groom then exchanged floral garlands.
A fish that is dressed up was sent to the groom’s house and another one was sent back to the bride’s house to mark the happiness of fixing an alliance. Fish like Hilsa and Rohu are often sent for this purpose. The fish will be draped with a mini sari and adorned with earrings and vermillion on its forehead.
The traditional Kerala style wedding will be held on Thursday. Ministers V Abdurahiman and MLA Kurukkoli Moideen graced the occasion with their presence.
