Kochi: A woman from Ottapalam has filed a petition in the high court alleging that her husband abducted her children and took them to the US. After hearing the petition, the high court directed the man to produce the children before the court on March 12.
The Union Home Ministry has been tasked to issue a notice to the father residing in the United States.
According to the petitioner, her husband, a native of Kottayam, forcibly abducted the children from her house in Ottapalam on February 6. The petitioner and her husband work in the United States.
According to police, the husband took the children to the US via Chennai airport on February 8. The husband also took the travel documents including passport of the petitioner. The High Court held that there was a deliberate attempt on the part of the husband to abduct the children and prevent the petitioner from seeking legal redressal against this.
A division bench has directed the Union Home Ministry to issue a notice to her husband in San Francisco. The petition will be reconsidered on March 14.
