Kerala witnesses Rs 14.6 cr worth drug seizures, 1,038 related arrests in last 35 days

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala witnessed Rs 14.6 crore worth drug seizures and 1,038 related arrests in last 35 days, according to the statement given by Excise Minister MB Rajesh here on Friday.

The minister revealed the data of the special enforcement drive conducted by excise department across the state from September 16 to October 21. The drive will continue till November 21.

957.7 gm of MDMA, 1,428 gm Methamphetamine, 13.9 gm LSD stamps, 245.5 gm hashish oil, 187.6 gm narcotic pills, 16 injection ampoules, 147.7 kg ganja and 181 ganja plants were seized during this period.

According to the data, Thrissur and Ernakulam witnessed most number of cases. The least number of cases has been reported from Kasaragod.

As a part of Chief Minister’s direction, a data bank of 2,324 criminals booked in narcotic cases has been prepared and it is under surveillance.

The officials are also giving special focus on school premises, buses, trains, check posts and even inroads.
