Kerala vigilance dept receives a slew of complaints against govt officials; 13,435 in last yr alone

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala vigilance department has been receiving a slew of complaints against state government officials. The home department has directed the vigilance to pursue prosecution procedures in necessary cases.

According to vigilance officials, the success of campaigns and sensitisation programs aimed at 'corruption-free Kerala' is getting reflected as more complaints. In the last year, the department received 13,45 complaints. The number of complaints received in the first month of 2023 stands at 1,105.

The complaints are reaching the department through the toll-free number, WhatsApp and email. Meanwhile, the government has directed vigilance to increase surprise raids to nab the bad apples. The department even receives complaints against insiders too.
