Kerala Vigilance achieves all-time record in filing bribery cases; 56 govt officials held in 2022

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) has secured an all-time record in terms of nabbing bribe-takers and launching surprise raids across the state. Reportedly, VACB recorded a total of 47 bribery cases and nabbed 56 government officials in 2022 alone.

As per reports, 1715 surprise raids were conducted across the state last year. Around 14 cases were registered from the revenue and local body departments of the state.

In addition, seven cases were registered from the health department and four from the registration department.

Statewide raids were launched in the departments of motor vehicles, general education, local bodies, higher secondary, registration, revenue, public works and public distribution, last year.

The state VACB has also been credited for ensuring punishment for the violators in 75 cases. Moreover, the department also initiated 88 vigilance investigations, 116 intelligence inspections and 9 tribunal enquiries in 2022.

“Chargesheets have been filed in 62 vigilance cases and 446 preliminary investigations were conducted in 2022,” said ADGP Manoj Abraham.
