Kasargod: A fight broke out when people from many other wards reached a vaccination centre organised for vaccinating two wards in a panchayat here. The incident took place on Friday at a vaccination camp in Puthur from the Govt Higher Secondary school here. Though the vaccination drive was organised for the first and second wards of Mogral panchayat, people from other wards also reached here.

It was the Muslim League activists who started the tussle after claiming that people from other wards and panchayats had reached the camp for vaccination. They cross-examined the people from outside their wards which led to arguments and then to a violent scuffle. Many got injured as people fought like cats and dogs.

The officials of the Health Department had admitted that the cause of the fighting was the intrusion of the people from outside the prescribed wards. Soon police reached the spot and settled the issue.

Thereafter vaccination procedures resumed under the control of the police. Though the spread of disease became uncontrollable, people fought with each other without even wearing masks.
