Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meterological Department has forecasted heavy rains accompanied by thunder and lightning in Kerala till June 1. In view of this, a yellow alert has been sounded in various districts.
The IMD and Kerala Disaster Management Authority has alerted the public to exercise extreme caution during lightning.

May 28: Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur
May 29: Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur
May 30: Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki
May 31: Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Calicut
June 1: Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, Kasaragod
A yellow alert is issued in districts where heavy rains ranging from 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm of rainfall is expected.
Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea till May 30.
“Squally weather with wind speed raching 40-50 kmph gusting t0 60 kmph likely to prevail along and off south Kerala coast and over Lakshadweep area," alerted IMD.
