Kerala to receive heavy rains; orange, yellow alerts in districts

Orange alert has been sounded in Idukki and Malappuram districts while yellow alert has been sounded in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Malappuram and Alappuzha districts.

Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department forecasted heavy rains in different parts of Kerala. Following this, yellow and orange alerts have been issued.

Orange alert

Isolated areas will receive 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm of rain in 24 hours.

  • December 4: Idukki
  • December 5: Idukki and Malappuram

Yellow alert

Isolated areas will receive 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm of rain in 24 hours.

  • December 4: Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Malappuram
  • December 5: Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Alappuzha
The Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA) authority has warned the public and government system to exercise caution. People residing in low-lying areas, river banks and areas prone to landslides and mudslides have been warned to exercise caution. People should also follow the lightning warning issued by KSDMA.
