Kerala to receive heavy rains in next 5 days; Yellow alert in 6 districts tomorrow

Thiruvananthapuram: With the advent of northeast monsoon, Kerala will receive heavy rainfall in the next five days. On Saturday, the India Meterological Department announced the onset of the northeast monsoon over south India.

“Northeast Monsoon rains commenced over coastal Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal and adjoining areas of south Coastal Andhra Pradesh today, the 29th October 2022,” tweeted IMD on Saturday.

In view of heavy rains, IMD has sounded yellow alert in various districts from Sunday to Wednesday. Six districts have been placed under yellow alert on Sunday.

Yellow alert in districts at a glance

October 30: Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Palakkad

October 31: Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki

November 1: Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki

November 2: Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Malappuram
