Kerala to cancel license of those driving vehicles under influence of drugs

Thiruvananthapuram: The state government has decided to cancel the license of individuals driving vehicles under the influence of drugs. The decision was taken in a high-level meeting chaired by chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The police and motor vehicle departments have been directed on this.

If police are nabbing the person under influence of drugs, then they will intimate the motor vehicle department so that license can be cancelled. The license will be revoked if there are repeated violations.
Other major decisions in the meeting are:

  • Surveillance cameras will be made fully-equipped
  • The proposal for placing dashboard cameras in heavy vehicles will be studied and deliberated
  • Officials concerned will oversee whether guidelines related to school excursions are followed
Transport minister Antony Raju, among others, attended the meeting.
