Kerala to bring extensive changes in school curriculum

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala education minister V Sivankutty has announced the plans to bring major changes in the school curriculum in an extensive manner. He was addressing the media here on Saturday. The education department will constitute a curriculum committee for this purpose.

The committee will include subjects like gender justice, gender awareness, equality, secularism, volunteer acts, chronic diseases like cancer, social issues, sports and arts in the curriculum. The committee has been constituted by prominent experts in these respective fields.

Similarly, public opinion will be sought before finalizing the decision.

The minister also informed that action will be taken to speed up the implementation of the Khader committee report which was submitted by the committee headed by MA Khader for improving the quality of education.
